OR&R Scientist Pen Pals
NOVEMBER 2, 2020 — With the start of school, OR&R scientists began another year of exchanging letters with "pre-scientists" around the country. This month OR&R scientists participating in the Letters to a Pre-Scientist program received their first pen pal letters.
The program aims to humanize scientists, demystify their career paths, and inspire children to explore a future in science. Participating OR&R scientists are matched with students from under-resourced communities based on their interests inside and outside the classroom. The pairs will exchange letters throughout the school year, showing each other views beyond their usual experiences. The OR&R scientists that are participating include Reyhan Mehran, Tanya Torres, and Amy Uhrin.
