OR&R Staff Spotlight: Robin Garcia

JULY 13, 2018 —As a policy analyst for the NOAA Office or Response and Restoration, Robin Garcia acts as a liaison between OR&R and NOAA’s Office of Legislative Affairs and OR&R’s external partners.

A native of Washington, D.C., Robin earned her Bachelor of Science degree in marine science and Biology from the University of Miami and a Master of Science degree in marine biology from the College of Charleston. Robin's previous work includes aquatic toxicology research, environmental education, aquatic animal care, and most recently, science communication with the NOAA National Sea Grant Program. 

Robin joined the Office of Response and Restoration in May 2016 and is currently based in Silver Spring, Maryland. In her role at OR&R, Robin communicates marine and aquatic science to policy makers and constituents so that they can make educated decisions for the benefit of both the environment and coastal communities. As a member of the OR&R Outreach Team, Robin leads the program's engagement with congressional members and committees, partner organizations, and NOAA leadership. She also assists with planning activities at the National Ocean Service level for the program. Recently, Robin served as the media coordinator for the Sixth International Marine Debris Conference in San Diego.

Outside of work, Robin enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling to new cities, and making sure she visits the beach at least once a year.
