Organized by NOAA's Office of Education, the symposium offered NOAA Undergraduate Scholars the opportunity to showcase the results of their summer internships with NOAA labs and offices throughout the United States. Both oral and poster presentations were made and awards are given out on the final day.

NOAA Undergraduate Scholars come from the Educational Partnership Program (EPP) and Ernest F. Hollings scholarship programs. This year, over 110 undergraduates from more than 70 universities participated. Projects undertaken by the scholars were based on one of the following long-term NOAA goals: climate adaptation and mitigation, weather-ready nation, healthy oceans, and resilient coastal communities and economies.
