Disaster Response Center Hosts National Geodetic Survey OPUS Training

The week of October 27, 2014, the NOAA Gulf of Mexico Disaster Response Center hosted NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS) for the two-day Online Positioning User Service (OPUS) training.

NGS held the OPUS class twice throughout the week. The first class was held Tuesday and Wednesday and the second class was held Thursday and Friday. Altogether, 36 students participated in the training.

Opus provides simple access to high-accuracy National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) coordinates. By uploading a data file collected with a survey-grade GPS receiver, you can obtain an NSRS position via email. For more detailed information about OPUS, visit the NGS OPUS site.

For information about other upcoming events being held at the DRC or to schedule one of your own, please contact Katie.Krushinski@noaa.gov.
