Hudson River Lessons Learned Presented to Anacostia River Council

DECEMBER 9, 2016--At the request of members of the Leadership Council for a Cleaner Anacostia, OR&R staff presented their experiences on the Hudson River Superfund cleanup during a council meeting on December 7.

Simeon Hahn, OR&R Assessment and Restoration Division Regional Resource Coordinator in the Mid-Atlantic, is an invited member of the Council and has worked on the Anacostia on contaminant assessments, restoration projects, and environmental justice issues since 1999. The Leadership Council is comprised of government officials and environmental leaders from federal, state and local agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with decades of experience working on the Anacostia River. The presentation provided details about the Hudson River remediation, plus trustee concerns, recommendations and lessons learned. Questions and discussion followed regarding options for integrating restoration into the various remediation activities planned for the Anacostia.
