Large Turnout at Refugio Beach Oil Spill Public Meeting in Santa Barbara, California

JANUARY 22, 2016--More than 50 interested community members attended a January 20, 2016, workshop at the Santa Barbara library, organized by the natural resource trustees to provide an update on the Refugio Beach oil spill damage assessment.

Trustees held the meeting also to gather ideas for restoration projects from the public. NOAA and representatives from other federal and state agencies manned tables with posters summarizing ongoing investigations of potential injuries to fish and invertebrates, birds, mammals, and human uses. The NOAA Refugio DARRP website provides a link to a fillable form that anyone may use to submit potential restoration projects.

The Refugio workshop was the lead story on the local ABC evening news.
