New Hazmat Software Updates are Available

FEBRUARY 12, 2016--ALOHA 5.4.6 and CAMEO Chemicals 2.5 were released this week. Both of these programs are part of the CAMEO software suite for emergency responders and planners, and the tools can be used for assessing incidents involving hazardous materials.

With ALOHA, you can model toxic gas clouds, fires, and explosions to determine areas where key levels of concern have been exceeded and a threat to the public may exist. With CAMEO Chemicals, you can learn about the chemical properties, hazards, and critical response information for thousands of chemicals in the database; you can also use the reactivity tool to find out about what hazards (such as explosions or corrosive byproducts) might occur when two substances mix together.

This latest update to the programs was driven primarily by new data from several sources, including revised public exposure guidelines for toxic releases and updated chemical reactivity information.

The ALOHA desktop program is available from the CAMEO website. The CAMEO Chemicals desktop program is available from the OR&R website, and CAMEO Chemicals is also available as a website and a mobile website. The CAMEO suite programs are developed jointly by NOAA and the Environmental Protection Agency.
