NOAA Participates in G7 Summit

AUGUST 24, 2015--Staff from the NOAA Marine Debris Program (MDP) participated in an international marine debris workshop held in Berlin, Germany, August 3-5, 2015.

Currently led by the German government, the G7 nations of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States are working together to address marine debris whether it comes from land or sea. The workshop was a follow-up to the G7 Summit held in Germany on June 7-8, 2015, where the G7 leaders committed to combat marine debris. The August workshop brought together relevant stakeholders and experts from G7 nation administrations to highlight and commit to specific and targeted actions within four major marine debris themes addressing land-based sources, sea-based sources, priority removal actions, and research/education/outreach.
