OR&R Participates in the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry Annual Meeting

DEC. 1, 2017 —From November 12 - 16, several OR&R scientists participated in the SETAC (Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry) North America 38th Annual Meeting in Minneapolis.

The meeting theme this year was "Toward a Superior Future: Advancing Science for a Sustainable Environment".  The conference sessions included a wide range of topic themes this year including bioaccumulation, toxicology, fate and exposure modeling to addressing conflicts of interest, and communicating risk.  OR&R scientists participated in discussions on completed and ongoing OR&R projects related to hazardous waste sites, munitions, restoration, oil-related research, and marine debris. From the OR&R Marine Debris Program, Caitlin Wessel presented "Understanding impacts of microplastics on Eastern Oysters." Participants took advantage of the opportunity to meet with our many project partners, including NCCOS and NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), and even found time to enjoy the sites of Minneapolis (a.k.a., 'the city of flour and sawdust', or 'the city of lakes').
