OR&R to Present at Third Annual Arctic Encounter Symposium

JANUARY 14, 2016--Dr. Amy Merten will present at the third Annual Arctic Encounter Symposium in Seattle, on January 15 – 16, 2016.


She will focus on international collaboration on the prevention of oil spills in the Arctic. In addition to her role in OR&R’s Assessment and Restoration Division, Amy is the Chair of Emergency Prevention, Preparedness, and Response (EPPR) Arctic Council Working Group. The working group addresses prevention, preparedness and response to environmental emergencies in the Arctic. Amy will discuss oil spill response challenges, international collaboration on prevention and preparedness, and search and rescue in the Arctic.

Sponsored by the University of Washington School of Law, the Arctic Encounter Symposium is the largest annual event on Arctic policy held in the U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Maria Cantwell will deliver a joint keynote address.
