"Staying on Track and Moving Forward in West Coast Oil Transport"

On October 1, 2014, OR&R participated in the annual meeting of the Pacific States /British Columbia Oil Spill Task Force.

The Oil Spill Task Force is comprised of representatives from environmental agencies in the Pacific coastal area, including Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Hawaii, and British Columbia. The organization collects and shares data on oil spills, coordinates oil spill prevention projects, and promotes regulatory safeguards. The annual meeting provides an opportunity for the Task Force members to share updates on their work in oil spill prevention, preparedness, response and recovery to stakeholders and the public. The theme of this year's meeting is “Staying on Track and Moving Forward in West Coast Oil Transport“. Topics focused on crude by rail, Bakken crude oils, and research and technology, but also included updates from NOAA, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, and Environment Canada on efforts related to dispersants.
