OR&R's Michel Gielazyn Earns EPA Bronze Award for Superior Service

SEPTEMBER 21, 2020 — This past week Michel Gielazyn, a Regional Resource Coordinator with OR&R’s Assessment and Restoration Division in Florida, was part of a team awarded the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 2020 Bronze Award for Superior Service.

This recognition comes after outstanding efforts working on the Ciba-Geigy Corp. Superfund Site case in McIntosh, Alabama. The EPA placed the site on the Superfund program’s National Priorities List in 1984 because of contaminated groundwater, soil, sludge and sediment resulting from waste disposal practices. This team issued a complex Explanation of Significant Difference for the Record of Decision, helping to establish consistent cleanup levels for the site. This work will help to ensure effective cleanup and solutions that protect the ecologically important floodplain on which the site is located.

Congratulations to Michel on this achievement!
