Ken Finkelstein, coach of the Marblehead, Massachusetts High School National Ocean Science Bowl team, led his students to their first winning record at the Massachusetts regional tournament (The Blue Lobster Bowl) on March 1, 2014 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.

From September of 2013 to the week of the competition, Finkelstein spent every Wednesday morning from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM teaching both oceanography and environmental science and organizing the logistics for the group of seven students, five of whom took part in the tournament. Twenty-four high schools from Massachusetts took part, and Marblehead finished with three wins and two losses. Ken recommends that others within OR&R take part in this very rewarding experience, and notes the brilliance of many of the students. The 2014 finals are in Seattle in early May. See NOSB.org.
