The workshop highlighted research by both professionals and students from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia with the goal of coordinating efforts to understand impacts, facilitate collaborations, and to identify priority research in the southeast.

During the workshop, team members with the NOAA Marine Debris program reconnected with previous Marine Debris Program-funded partners from the NOAA National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science and the National Park Service.

The new NOAA Marine Debris Program Southeast Regional Coordinator, Caroline Morris, also in attendance, engaged with interested parties in anticipation of her upcoming Southeast Marine Debris Action Plan Workshop being held in October.

As an added bonus, the workshop’s organizers scheduled a break during the ~75% totality eclipse!
