2024 Community Marine Debris Removal Grant Program Awards in Alaska

SEPT. 9, 2024 — On September 3, the NOAA Marine Debris Program, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and Alaska Sea Grant announced $1.2 million in federal funding for seven marine debris removal projects funded under the 2024 Community Marine Debris Removal Grant Program.

These projects will remove and dispose of marine debris, include important community-focused education and outreach activities, and provide tangible benefits to coastal and marine habitats, communities, and economies across Alaska.

Funding for these opportunities was provided through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, a transformational opportunity to make an impact against the climate crisis across the country. This initiative includes the prevention, mitigation, and removal of marine debris from coastal communities and marine ecosystems.
