JULY 24, 2015--Over the last two weeks the Spatial Data Branch provided remote support for the USCG Research & Development Center’s Arctic Technology Demonstration off the coast of the North Slope of Alaska.

Satellite transfer of near real-time video and imagery from multiple Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to Arctic ERMA was tested during a simulated Search and Rescue exercise. UAS flightpath and images were visualized in Arctic ERMA while operations were being conducted. Network bandwidth and communications with personnel from NOAA’s UAS Program aboard the USCGC Healy was also tested.
