Emergency Response Division Staff Gather in Seattle for Strategy and Collaboration

JUNE 2, 2016 -- The Emergency Response Division of NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R) held its 2016 "all-hands" staff meeting in Seattle, Washington, from May 10-12, 2016.

Only taking place every few years, this is an opportunity for all members of the Emergency Response Division, who are spread throughout the country, to come together as a larger collaborative force.

The meeting covered a broad range of topics, including the core themes of science, strategy, and transitions, with key breakout sessions covering safety and development issues. Senior managers were able to share strategic planning initiatives at higher levels of the organization with the attendees. Time was also spent briefing the larger team on the status on the development of new tools.

In addition, OR&R's Assessment and Restoration Division led a discussion on how the Emergency Response Division can incorporate the massive amount of scientific data and lessons resulting from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill into future work.
