Incident Management Team Training in Preparation for DNC

JULY 29, 2016--OR&R’s Emergency Response Division participated in Incident Management Team Training on June 12-14 in Philadelphia.

Hosted by U.S Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay, the training was based on a hypothetical incident involving three vessels on the Delaware River between Philadelphia and Camden. The scenario included human casualties, injuries, and an oil spill. The team was comprised of federal and state emergency responders, including OR&R’s Frank Csulak, the NOAA Scientific Support Coordinator.

As a member of the USCG Sector Delaware Bay’s response team, the, NOAA SSC assisted in decision-making and establishing priorities and procedures associated with this exercise. The NOAA SSC acted as a member of the Unified Command, and was specifically charged with commanding, coordinating, and managing the spill response.

The Incident Management Team training was part of disaster preparedness efforts in advance of the large influx of people expected to be in Philadelphia for the Democratic National Convention July 25 through 29. During the convention Csulak was on-call in support of USCG Sector Delaware Bay.
