Marine Debris Program Attends Communications Boot Camp

MARCH 3, 2017--On February 27 and 28, MDP staff Carlie Herring and Amy V. Uhrin attended the Communications Boot Camp for Scientists offered by the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS).

The intensive, two-day training program is designed to provide scientists with the skills needed to successfully communicate about their research with reporters and decision makers, including how to translate scientific findings for non-technical audiences and how to prepare for and participate in a news interview. The training also included informal discussions with science policy and communications experts from the D.C. area.
