Marine Debris Program Participates in U.S. State Department Program

MAY 29, 2015--The NOAA Marine Debris Program (MDP) recently participated in the U.S State Department's Ocean Distance Learning Program.

This webinar-based program invited representatives from U.S. Embassies around the world to learn more about ocean issues and how they can incorporate specific activities in their regions. Nancy Wallace, Chief of the MDP, provided a general overview on the marine debris issue, the solutions that the program is working on to minimize the impacts of marine debris, and actions that other countries could easily replicate. Representatives from dozens of embassies participated including those based in China, Indonesia, Bahrain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina.
