Marine Debris Talks Microplastics on Reddit

JANUARY 20, 2017--On January 12, the NOAA Marine Debris Program (MDP) participated in a Reddit “Ask Us Anything” (AUA), during which MDP Scientists Amy Uhrin and Carlie Herring answered questions from the Reddit community about microplastics.

The two-hour event reached 11.6 million people through the Reddit platform, with 9,747 users clicking through to read the responses. The AUA concluded the MDP’s “research week,” during which four newly-completed, MDP-funded research projects were highlighted on the Marine Debris Blog and website.
