Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) for Responders

MAY 22, 2015--The Maine/New Hampshire Area Committee hosted its 18th annual Oil Spill Seminar on May 13, 2015, Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This year’s topic was “NRDA for Responders.”

The objective of the 2015 seminar was to create better cooperation and communication between the emergency response personnel and the damage assessment personnel during a spill response. With better understanding of the NRDA process, responders can assist in data collection and logistical support. The key presenters were OR&R’s Dr. Ken Finkelstein, Ian Zelo, and Steve Lehmann, as well as Dr. Deborah French McCay of Applied Science Associates. The final panel discussion, “How Can Responders Help or Hinder NRDA?” generated several specific changes to the Maine/New Hampshire Area Contingency Plan.
