NOAA's Marine Debris Program at Revere Beach Sand Sculpting Festival

JULY 31, 2015--On July 24 – 26, 2015, the NOAA Marine Debris Program partnered with NOAA Fisheries Greater Atlantic Regional Office, Protected Resources Division, to exhibit at the 2015 Revere Beach Sand Sculpting Festival in Revere, Massachusetts.

The crowd had the opportunity to experience America’s First Public Beach and learn more about nature and how to protect it. Nearly 750,000 visitors descended upon Revere Beach (Massachusetts) this weekend to see master sand sculptors at work. Keith Cialino, NOAA Marine Debris Program Northeast Regional Coordinator, hosted an exhibit alongside the art event, engaging visitors with solutions-focused messages to protect their local beaches from marine debris. The 2015 Revere Beach Sand Sculpting winners were announced at an awards ceremony held on Saturday evening on Revere Beach Boulevard.
