OR&R Attends NOAA Resilience Workshop

JULY 15, 2016--Representatives from OR&R, the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS), Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS), and the Office for Coastal Management (OCM) were asked to represent NOS at a Resilience Workshop hosted by NOAA Ocean and Coastal Council's (NOCC) Performance Improvement Council (PIC) on July 6. The goal of the meeting was to improve the story NOAA tells about coastal and community resilience, what it means for NOAA, how each line office contributes, and how we contribute to community and ecosystem resilience. NOS was recognized as a major player for NOAA in coastal resilience efforts and the group expressed interest in developing scenario-based resilience exercises. Expected outcomes of this workshop are improved cross-line collaboration and a concise one-NOAA story about resilience efforts and outcomes that can be used for multiple audiences. Kate Clark attended for OR&R.
