OR&R Participates in Interagency Technology Demonstration at IOSC

MAY 26, 2017--OR&R provided strong leadership and expertise toward the huge success of the BSEE-led Technology Demonstration at the 2017 International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC).

The demonstration, comprised of six stations, impressed the evolution of spill response over 30 years. The six stations included Incident Command, Remote Sensing, Mechanical Recovery, Boom, Dispersant Use and Application, and In Situ Burning. Tours were given to agency leads, industry executives, members of the press, international attendees, and a select group of STEM students. It was also open to the conference attendees and general public. OR&R provided leadership and expertise for the Incident Command Post station, which featured ERMA and a replica of an Exxon Valdez Command Post work station. We also provided expertise for the Remote Sensing Station which featured the latest technology and advancements in remote sensing. OR&R staff also provided critical support to the planning and execution of the event, as well as guided tours for the VIP guests. The demonstration was a great success and a highlight of the IOSC. Thanks to all who contributed and participated, in particular Vicki Loe, Matt Dorsey, George Graettinger, and Doug Helton.
