OR&R Staff Spotlight: Christina Galitsky

February 5, 2016--I started at OR&R at the end of July 2015. My background combines over a dozen years of engineering, facilitation, and environmental science with six years of ecological experience.

I have Masters Degrees in Chemical Engineering and Ecology. Before coming here, I worked at the Woodland Park Zoo on an international conservation organization effort, at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab doing energy conservation work on four continents, and at an environmental consulting firm in Oakland doing chemical and biological risk assessments.

I was hired at OR&R's Assessment and Restoration Division (ARD) to lead a study at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation on shrub-steppe habitat recovery analysis and restoration planning.

The purpose of the study is to begin to understand habitat restoration options for Hanford. We are starting with the relatively more simple terrestrial habitats, and will later move to the aquatic environment. The study will be crucial for helping to inform not only restoration approaches and associated costs but also the order of magnitude that the injury assessment should encompass.

I rock climb, mountaineer, kayak, bird watch and see tons of live music for fun.
