Simeon Hahn Appointed to D.C. Leadership Council

NOVEMBER 20, 2015--Simeon Hahn of OR&R’s Assessment and Restoration Division was appointed to the Washington, D.C. Mayor's Leadership Council for a Cleaner Anacostia River and sworn in at the council’s November 17, 2015 meeting held at the John A. Wilson Building.


The Council is chaired by the Honorable Anthony Williams, former mayor of Washington, D.C. At the meeting there were presentations and discussions on the Anacostia River sediments project, an overview of the Legal Framework, updates on American Shad restoration efforts, and member updates on new initiatives.
Simeon Hahn has a long history of working with EPA, the District of Columbia’s Department of Energy and the Environment (DOEE), and several other partners on waste sites and spills on the Anacostia River.

The Anacostia River is a tributary to the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. NOAA’s Damage Assessment, Remediation, and Restoration Program (DARRP) management has been evaluating NOAA's role in the Anacostia as a trustee for consideration in adopting as an official DARRP site since 2014.
