JULY 18, 2022 — On July 6, 2022, the NOAA Marine Debris Program director, Nancy Wallace, joined colleagues from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and virtually met with representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.

The meeting focused on the Save our Seas Act 2.0 legislation, in which both NOAA and EPA have a number of requirements. Nancy provided information on the studies and reports required in the legislation as well as the status of the new Marine Debris Foundation. She also provided an overview of the Marine Debris Program and the new funding available from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The meeting ended with a discussion of the upcoming 7th International Marine Debris Conference, which will be held in Busan, Korea, in September.
