NOAA’s Marine Debris Program and Ocean Today Studio Release “Trash Counts”

OCTOBER 5, 2018 — On September 24, the NOAA Marine Debris Program and NOAA’s Ocean Today studio released a new Trash Talk episode, Trash Counts.

The video is a result of a year-long collaboration between the Marine Debris and Ocean Today team. It is the 8th video in the series and is being highlighted, along with the rest of Trash Talk, for Ocean Today's Every Full Moon collection during the month of October.

This new video follows a group of high school students in Santa Cruz, California as they monitor their local beaches and report their findings to NOAA’s Marine Debris Monitoring and Assessment Project (MDMAP). It highlights for educators the importance of monitoring and how they can use MDMAP data. Additionally, it aims to help educators feel more comfortable seeking out and using the Marine Debris Program’s Monitoring Toolkit for Educators.
