CAMEO Training for Nuclear Regulatory Commission Personnel

NOVEMBER 13, 2015--OR&R’s Emergency Response Division provided CAMEO training to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) personnel last week.

CAMEO (Computer-Aided Management of Emergency Operations) software products have been valuable hazardous materials response and planning tools since the first products were introduced in 1986.

A total of 18 members of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Division as well as the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Licensing Division attended with equal staff from NRC Headquarters and Region 2 (Atlanta, GA) who participated by webinar. Using actual NRC licensed sites the staff was trained to evaluate the hazards present and display critical information in CAMEO's mapping program MARPLOT., with which objects can be added to maps, and data associated with those objects can be viewed and edited .

NRC has already requested another training next year for additional personnel.
