She joined NOAA in January of this year to coordinate MDP activities in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Demi works with partners to assess both existing and emerging issues, implement prevention projects, plan removal efforts, and foster collaboration across the region.

Demi received her Bachelor of Science in biological science from Florida State University and Master of Environmental Management degree in Coastal Environmental Management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. Just before grad school, Demi served as an intern responding to stranded marine mammals and collecting behavioral data from whale watching vessels out of Boston Harbor, where she first fell in love with New England. She has also held positions conducting research on the effectiveness of outreach strategies, developing tools for sustainable tourism focused on spinner dolphins in Hawaii, and implementing sea turtle conservation programs for boaters, SCUBA operators, and anglers.

Demi feels incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to work on these important issues and be surrounded by partners so dedicated to seeking solutions. Outside of work, you can find her practicing yoga, traveling to visit family and friends, and searching for the best pizza in the region.
