New Environmental Data Catalog now live on DIVER website

The public environmental data website, DIVER (Data Integration, Visualization, Exploration, and Reporting), is home to a new DIVER Environmental Data Catalog. This new catalog acts as a central library, making it easier for the public to find and download NOAA-created data packages for damage assessments, restoration project monitoring, publications, and special projects.
DIVER serves as a centralized platform for scientists nationwide to upload field data, analyses, photographs, and restoration monitoring studies in a standardized format. The system supports the integration and distribution of damage assessment and restoration data, as well as historical data collected from hazardous waste site releases, oil spills, marine debris, and vessel groundings. Through custom query tools, the public and researchers can easily search, visualize, and download environmental data—including sediment and tissue contaminant chemistry, toxicity test results, and field observations. Additionally, DIVER provides public access to case documents and administrative records for NOAA’s Damage Assessment Remediation and Restoration Program, which recovers restoration funds from parties responsible for environmental harm.
What Can You Do In the New Environmental Data Catalog?
The new data catalog brings NOAA’s assessment and restoration data together in one place providing:
- Consistent access to regional, case, and project specific data packages for download and analysis
- Ability to query and download data directly in DIVER Explorer for further analysis
- Links to view spatial data in context with NOAA’s Environmental Response Management Application (ERMA®)
- Access to the NOAA Archive at the National Center for Environmental Information and project partners and/or agencies
- Access and references to publications and InPort metadata
- Access to Administrative Records and Case Documents
What’s Next for DIVER?
The DIVER Environmental Data Catalog continues to grow as OR&R transitions more data files into this new, easier-to-use format.
