NOS Equal Employment Opportunity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council Annual Meeting
MARCH 9, 2020 — The NOAA National Ocean Service (NOS) Equal Employment Opportunity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council (NEDAC) met for its annual retreat on February 24-25 in Silver Spring to develop an action plan for FY 20-22, in order to increase diversity and inclusion within NOS.
The NEDAC is co-chaired by Michelle Crockett and Acting NOS DAA Juliana Blackwell, and is represented by a primary and alternate member of each program within NOS as well as MBO and HQ. The OR&R representatives to the NEDAC are MaryLee Haughwout and Jessica White. The NEDAC discussed the latest ‘Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey’ results as well as initiatives undertaken from the last action plan. The latest NEDAC action plan was developed based upon the NOAA Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) action plan as well as NOS priorities identified by the NEDAC. Proposed focus areas include shadowing, D&I outreach, internships, and formalization of best practice for D&I.
