OR&R Director Provides Series of One-On-One Briefings to Offices of Senators Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Chuck Schumer
April 26, 2021—In three separate one-on-one briefings, OR&R Director Scott Lundgren met with staff from the offices of Senators Susan Collins (ME), Lisa Murkowski (AK), and Chuck Schumer (NY) on April 15-16.
In each briefing Scott provided an overview of OR&R, highlighting various settlements, projects, and tools that the office is involved in. His briefing with Sen. Collins’ staff ended with questions on derelict fishing gear and Save Our Seas 2.0. Sen. Schumer’s office also had questions about marine debris, specifically abandoned and derelict vessels. Schumer’s staff mentioned the importance of New York Communities having strong interests in marine debris removal.
Sen. Murkowski’s staff asked questions about transboundary incidents in Canadian waters. OR&R works regularly with Canada, largely under the Canada-U.S. Joint Contingency Plan approach led by the U.S. Coast Guard.
