OR&R Presents on Data Management at NOAA’s 2020 Environmental Data Management Workshop
AUGUST 24, 2020 — OR&R’s Ben Shorr presented at this year’s NOAA Environmental Data Management Workshop. The theme of the overall workshop was “Data to Decisions: Putting NOAA Data to Work”.
Ben presented on data and records management and focused on NOAA’s DIVER application, a purpose-built platform for data and information management. OR&R uses DIVER for data and information management across our range of responsibilities, including preparing for responses to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and archiving data.
DIVER is also part of the NOAA’s Damage Assessment, Remediation, and Restoration Program’srecords management strategy. The session, co-chaired by NOAA’s Record Manager Andre Sivels and NCEI’s Jason Cooper, highlighted the intersection of environmental data management with records management, and the mandates and directives that OR&R is required to meet.
