OR&R Participates in Marine Naturalist Workshop, San Juan Islands, Washington
MARCH 22, 2019 — NOAA’s Office of Response and Restoration and the Restoration Center presented at the “Gear Up” workshop, March 15 – 17, hosted by The Whale Museum in the San Juan Islands.
The multi-day workshop focused on educating naturalists on oil spill response followed by hazardous waste operations and emergency response training. NOAA representatives discussed Natural Resource Damage Assessment and potential risks to local resources, including the endangered southern resident killer whales. Other presenters included the Washington State Department of Ecology, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and local non-profit organizations.
