Seventh International Marine Debris Conference Announced for September 2022

NOVEMBER 15, 2021 ─ The Seventh International Marine Debris Conference (7IMDC) will be held September 18-23, 2022, in Busan, South Korea. The Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) will be official co-hosts for this event, with NOAA’s Marine Debris Program providing in-kind support in planning and executing the conference.

The conferences are a leading international forum on marine debris, and they bring together the global community to advance understanding of the issue and share strategies and experiences to minimize marine debris impacts and occurrence in the environment. This is the first IMDC to be held outside the United States since the conferences began in 1984, and it follows the 6IMDC held in March 2018, co-hosted by NOAA and UNEP.
