This month, we dive into the world of tsunamis in the Pacific Ocean's 'Ring of Fire," as Dave Snider teaches us about NOAA's Tsunami Warning System!

Dave Snider is a Tsunami Warning Coordinator at NOAA’s National Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer, Alaska. In that role, he works with "tsunami-ologists" to ensure that NOAA’s detection and forecasting of tsunami events are clearly coordinated through NOAA’s National Weather Service and Emergency Alert Systems.

Before becoming a Tsunami Warning Coordinator, he received his BS in Aeronautics with a concentration in Meteorology from Saint Louis University and spent 25 years as an award-winning weather broadcaster and social media worker in Colorado, North Carolina, Missouri, and Alaska, giving the public and decision-makers important safety information during blizzards, hurricanes, severe thunderstorms, and tornado outbreaks.
