OR&R Presents at American Salvage Association Annual Meeting and Meets with Organization Leadership
DECEMBER 14, 2020 — On December 9, OR&R Director Scott Lundgren presented on a government panel at the American Salvage Association Annual Meeting alongside colleagues from the Coast Guard, Navy SupSalv, and Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.
He addressed the association members virtually gathered for the annual event and took questions on areas of common interest, such as OR&R’s role in:
- Abandoned and derelict Vessels and potentially polluting sunken wrecks, including recent successful removals such as from the sunken WWII shipwreck COIMBRA in 2019.
- Marine debris emergency response planning and supplemental removal actions,
- Recent post-hurricane response actions, and
- Related NOAA partner activities such as satellite pollution detection and reporting.
Prior to the Annual Meeting, the OR&R director along with OR&R colleagues Sarah Latshaw from the Marine Debris Program and Mark Dix from the Emergency Response Division met with the ASA leadership and other federal agencies for more informal discussion these mutual areas of interest.
